All about Mums & Garters
Mums & Garters are a unique Texas tradition, but for first-time buyers or new friends to our great state, ordering a mum/garter can be tricky. Below you will find terms to make sense of the product and frequently asked questions.
Helpful Terms
Mums: Mums are floral necklaces for girls, they are larger in size, ranging from 24"-36" in length.
Garters: Garters are floral arm bands for males, they are smaller in size not longer than 18" in length.
Skirt Size: The length of the ribbons
below the flower.
Crown: The top of the mum consisting of the backer loops, flower(s), centerpiece, and bow. Crown sizes vary based on the size, number, and configuration of the flowers.
Backer Loops: the loops behind the silk flower, the top of the mum.
Glitter Centerpiece: Cutout on the flower head, such as a monogram, name, or theme.
Draped Name Chain: A braid that is draped from the crown in a u-shape. Drapes often feature name cutouts.
Loop Chain: Chains that spell words, such as “Homecoming.”
Themed Ribbon: Ribbons with custom letters created with heat transfer vinyl. Standard theme ribbons feature class rank & school.
Custom Cutouts: personalized designs that are glitter cardstock and heat transfer vinyl.
Senior mums & garters are white, often accented with silver, gold, or pink. Optional: add a pop of color to accent with the school colors.
Types of Ribbon:
Acetate Ribbon is the basic, solid color mum ribbon. $
